Which vaccines go on a dog shot record?
Vets group dog vaccines into core vaccines, recommended for every dog, and lifestyle (non-core) vaccines, chosen for where your dog lives and what they do.
Core vaccines
- Rabies
- Protects against a fatal virus that can spread to people. Required by law in most U.S. states; timing and boosters follow local rules.
- DHPP
- One combination shot covering distemper, hepatitis (adenovirus), parainfluenza and parvovirus. Given as a puppy series, then as boosters.
Lifestyle (non-core) vaccines
- Leptospirosis
